In the
month of April, the Damask rose gardens in Jebel Akhtar put on a splendid show
with their pink blooms. These flowers are not only treat to the eyes but to the
nose too. It’s as if someone just sprinkled litres of rose water in the air.
The pink flowers, the green valley and the layers of terrace farm are a sight to behold. The local farmers sell roses and rose tiaras. You can bring an aesthetic basket & some other props to click stunning photos. You can also buy locally made rosewater, oils and other Omani products.
You can hike through the gardens, visit the nearby terrace farms, trek, camp & visit other places like:
1. Wadi Bani Habib
2. Jabal Akhdar Park
3. Saiq village
Things to know:
1. You will need a 4 WD vehicle to reach Jebel Akhtar.
2. The journey to Jebel Akhdar can be challenging for first timers. It is better to hire an experienced driver if you are not confident.
3. If you have motion sickness, then carry medicines.
